Why Is Valorant Not Opening?

There are several reasons why an application might not open or launch.

When VALORANT stalls, crashes, or even displays black screens, players may get upset and go back to their home screens.

The developers often fix bugs when most players are impacted by them, but if not enough people are complaining that VALORANT isn’t launching, help might not arrive.

If so, you should try one of the troubleshooting methods below to get VALORANT back up and running as soon as possible.

How to resolve VALORANT’s inability to open or launch?

Lower the PC’s resolution.

If you are someone who regularly adjusts the resolution of your PC to suit the task at hand, VALORANT may have lost track of time.

VALORANT has a predefined resolution, however if you run the game without matching it, it may behave weirdly or not open at all.

  1. Right-click on a blank space on your desktop to choose it.
  2. Click on “Display Settings.
  3. Navigate to the ‘Display Resolution’ menu.
  4. Choose a lesser resolution or the suggested one.

To see if it helps, try opening VALORANT and playing with lower resolutions than recommended.

Check for graphics card updates here

New driver updates are regularly missed by players. Graphics driver upgrades ensure that your GPU is prepared for newly released games and can fix both old and new problems.

  1. On your computer, click the “Start” button.
  2. Look for and launch the “Device Manager” app.
  3. After choosing the “Display Adapters” option, select the area that has the same name as your graphics card.
  4. Pick the “Driver” tab in the newly opened window.
  5. Choose the “Update Driver” menu item.
  6. To upgrade your graphics card, select “Search automatically for drivers” at the end.

Although it doesn’t happen often, you might need to downgrade your drivers if VALORANT suddenly stops launching after a recent driver update.

Create a valuable security exclusion.

Unfortunately, your computer’s antivirus program might be blocking VALORANT before it ever starts because it might pose a threat.

You can overlook this generally bad idea, but in the case of VALORANT’s files, you can leave your machine vulnerable.

VALORANT a security exclusion
  1. On your computer, click the “Start” button.
  2. Look for and launch the “Windows Security” app.
  3. Select the “Virus & Threat Protection” area.
  4. After swiping down, select “Manage Settings.”
  5. Once more, scroll down and select “Add or remove exclusions.”
  6. Next, you should choose to “Add an exclusion” by clicking on the “Folder” option.
  7. Locate and pick the directories where the Riot Client and VALORANT are installed.
  8. Try to launch VALORANT

You can also try completely turning off your antivirus program, but that might not be the best decision if it compromises your computer’s security.

Restart every Riot service.

While logging into VALORANT, players might observe many Riot services operating in the Task Manager background.

In rare cases, these jobs could get stuck in the background and hinder the initiation of other Riot processes.

  1. Holding Ctrl + Shift + Esc will open “Task Manger.”
  2. Check by scrolling whether any Riot programs, including VALORANT and the Riot Client, are open.
  3. If you locate any, right-click on it and choose “End Task.”
  4. Allow the apps to shut down completely, usually a minute or two.
  5. Restart VALORANT

While you relaunch VALORANT, open your task manager and terminate any Riot-related processes. This will compel your system to relaunch them when you load up VALORANT.

Launch VALORANT as an administrator

Games require a lot of permissions in order to function properly. If you do not have administrator access, some games on your gaming PC might not function correctly because they are unable to interface with various parts of your system.

  1. To launch VALORANT, right-click on its icon and choose “Run as administrator.”
  2. When the window asking for confirmation opens, select “Yes.”
  3. Aim to introduce VALORANT

During this process, you might be prompted to enter a password. If you are unable to obtain the password, you should consult the device administrator.

See the VALORANT server status.

There are times when you can’t fix the problem or maintain control. The video game development industry is tough, and Riot might be having problems.

Using the Down Detector website is an additional alternative, but be warned that some of the data there can be skewed by trolls who are claiming server error problems when none are actually present.

Reinstall VALORANT

If all else fails, reinstalling VALORANT is the best way to troubleshoot your in-game files because it will replace any corrupted files.

  1. On your computer, click the “Start” button.
  2. Locate the Riot Client and VALORANT apps.
  3. If you do a right-click on them, choose “Uninstall.”
  4. Return to Riot’s website to redownload VALORANT after they have vanished.

Why is game not launching?

Games may fail to launch on your PC for various reasons. Common factors include compatibility issues, outdated drivers, missing or corrupted game files, security software interference, insufficient hardware resources, or conflicts with background applications.
